The Training and Development Specialist is a member of Tomorrow's Technology  team. Reporting to the President-CEO, this position is responsible for designing, developing, implementing and evaluating blended learning solutions for the volunteer leaders of the organization, including but not limited to online learning, webinars and instructor-led training. They will build training-related best practices. The Training and Development Specialist organizes the logistics associated with training and serves as the initial point of contact for participants and facilitators across all delivery methods (face-to-face and online). 


Content Development (50%) 

Design and develop instructionally sound online and instructor-led training programs
Collaborate with subject matter experts, graphic designers and training specialists
Create consistent course content that aligns with Toastmasters' philosophy and values
Develop evaluation tools to evaluate the effectiveness of training
Additional tasks as assigned

Administrative Tasks (45%) 

Tracks, monitors and supports training programs including face-to-face, eLearning and webinars.
Setup and equipment
Coordinates logistics to ensure proper delivery of training materials to off-site locations
Partners with other departments and vendors to prepare and create tangible training materials
Tracks training expenses
Develops a working knowledge of training curriculum
Additional tasks as assigned

Facilitation (5%) 

Facilitate live online and face-to-face training
Prepare facilitators to implement instructor-led training by conducting targeted Train-the-Trainer programs

Knowledge and Skills 

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional and evaluation models
Strong presentation and facilitation skills
Ability to follow project plans and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines
Demonstrated understanding of training and development techniques for adult learners-theory, curriculum design/development, delivery methods, training technology and evaluation
Experience dealing with business leaders and subject matter experts at all levels of the organization
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills


Bachelor's degree in instructional design, education or relevant field or equivalent work experience
Three or more years of experience in training development or instructional design
